TEEN MOM EMPOWERMENT FOUNDATION - Teach, Empower, Equip, Nurture, Mother's of Motivation
About Us
TEEN MOM EMPOWERMENT FOUNDATION is a 501c (3) non-profit volunteer based organization providing mentoring programs for youth within the Greater Houston area. The purpose of the organization is focused toward deterring recurrent pregnancy among youth. TEEN MOM establishes partnerships with local school districts, businesses and other non-profit organizations to accomplish the mission. We feel youth are most at risk for delinquent behaviors during after school hours. Our programs offer positive options for out-of-school time and a safe place for youth to socialize and participate in various educational activities. TEEN MOM also allows for our youth and young parents to volunteer and obtain community service hours to fulfill school credit requirements for graduation. TEEN MOM has implemented several programs designed to target our youth through education and circumvent teenage pregnancy. A list of our current programs are as follows:
This program offers teenage parents an opportunity to work with a caring mentor to improve their ability to develop a positive attitude towards their future. The long term goal of this program is to empower the teenage parent to break the behaviors that lead to teen pregnancy, HIV/STD infections, and develop a supportive environment for teenage parents by assigning mentors who are serving as role models both in academic and professional matters. Program focuses on four mentor methods as follows:
1. Overcome: Overcome is the central program of TEEN PARENT MENTORING. At risk parents will participate in a structured program of support.
2. Control: Control will focus on approaches to sexuality education, abstinence, contraception's, and health screenings.
3. Upward Bound: Upward Bound focuses on school completion strategies, college readiness and job training.
4. Social Hour: Social Hour will occur monthly between mentor and teen          parent.
The mission of Dad’s Active Duty (D.A.D.) is to bring families back together by strengthening the father-children relationships in our community. This program will allow father’s to become actively involved in the lives of their child or children. D.A.D. will encourage, educate, motivate, and strengthen men to become empowered fathers. Our goal is to build strong leaders who will possess the technical, physical and mental skills required to give them character, integrity and personal accountability. The D.A.D. program currently accommodates elementary and secondary students participating in activities such as football, fishing, camping, tutorials and arts and crafts.
The program C.H.A.R.M. Girls will focus on female etiquette for young ladies ages 10-16. Program topics will include but not limited to personal hygiene, manners, self-respect, character, leadership, skin, hair, nails, proper dress attire, modeling techniques and table manners.
Financial education fosters financial stability for individuals, families, and entire communities. The more people know about credit and banking services, the more likely they are to increase savings, buy homes, and improve their financial health and well being.
Program is designed to prepare young children to enter kindergarten with the necessary language, cognitive, and early reading skills to prevent reading difficulties and ensure school success.
Reading to children is a great way to encourage reading. Many parents think that once their children begin to read, they no longer need to read to their kids. However, reading together can be a very special time. It not only fosters a love of reading, it also provides an opportunity to strengthen emotional bonds.
TEEN MOM's Baby 2 Baby Shower program has been established to provide the necessities to teen parents and their children. The program collects and distributes donations of baby supplies.
